If you're one of the growing households in Australia enjoying the convenience of a Nespresso® coffee machine at home, but worried about the ethical and environmental impact of coffee capsules, now you can make the perfect long black in your machine that is not only Fairtrade and organic, but also boasts a completely biodegradable capsule.
This Certified organic and Fairtrade Lungo Supreme has a smooth and velvety texture, with all of the essence of a perfectly balanced Lungo using the best produce from Central America and East Africa. The intensity of its aroma is enriched with fruity notes which boast a tangy flavour. Certified Fairtrade and organic, it's for those who want to enjoy a smooth, aromatic long coffee at home, with a clear conscience.
NOTE: Please press the right button! These are Lungo capsules. Use only Espresso capsules with the Espresso button and Lungo capsules with the Long-serve button.
Thanks to its patented design and extraction technology, the capsule draws out the quintessential perfection of the highest quality coffees. It is the only capsule on the market that is entirely closed allowing an extraction under high pressure, reproducing the 'Italian Barista' style of extraction. Other capsules do not operate under pressure and essentially perform in the same manner as filter coffee
When you order a coffee that has milk, the barista will heat the milk and then combine the milk with a short espresso, depending on the style of coffee you prefer. Their skill lies in creating the perfect combination of milk and espresso coffee. We recommend that when creating your at home experience, that you do the same. First heat your milk and then use the 'short serve' button to add your coffee. If you prefer a long black style of coffee, we suggest either selecting a variant that is specifically designed for a Lungo 110ml serve or using the Ristretto/Espresso coffees with a short button and then topping up the serve with hot water.
Not only that, the capsules themselves are so green you could grow a plant in them. To comply with the stringent EN13432 standard, they are made primarily from vegetable fibre and starch and degrade within 180 days in industrial composting. Once used, you can simply dispose of the capsule in your green waste bin, eliminating the damaging environmental impact that other plastic or aluminium capsules have.
Each element of the packaging has also been designed to minimize its impact on the environment. The flow wrap packaging is fully biodegradable to EN13432 standard and the cardboard box is 100% recyclable. Read more about the environmental benefits of these Ethical Coffee Capsules from ecoCaffe.
These capsules are compatible with most Nespresso® machines with the exception of professional machines, Gaggia, Saeco, Aldi and Siemens machines, built-in models (Miele) and capsule-holder machines.

NOTE: These are Lungo capsules. Use only Espresso capsules with the Espresso button and Lungo capsules with the Long-serve button.

A little about Global Mamas: Global Mamas is a Fair Trade cooperative in Ghana, West Africa, supporting the sustainable development of women artisans producing fair trade products
New Internationalist Australia is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization, which means we have to stock a percentage of Fair Trade products, and also adhere to Fair Trade practices ourselves. Great for supporting producers rights, and also for our staff.
