The Bokashi Compost Bucket is a practical and convenient way to prevent food waste from ending up in landfill, while providing your garden with a nourishing food source and enriching microbes. This unique composting system uses the highly effective micro-organism Bokashi to create the ideal conditions for anaerobic composting, eliminating the odours and unpleasantness associated with putrefaction and decay.
You can compost almost every kitchen food waste including fresh fruit and vegetables, prepared foods, cooked and uncooked meats and fish, dairy, eggs, bread, coffee grounds, tea bags, wilted flowers and tissues. Do not include liquids or meat bones. The Bokashi Bucket composting system significantly accelerates the composting process of organic waste, producing rich compost which can be added to a conventional compost bin, or used directly in the garden, where it neutralises after 7-10 days.
A by-product of the fermentation process, Bokashi juice, is alive with effective micro-organisms and diluted with water makes a terrific fertiliser for the garden or pot plants. Around the house the concentrated Bokashi Juice can be poured directly into your kitchen and bathroom drains, toilets or septic systems to prevent algae build-up and control odour. It will also help to clean up our waterways by competing with harmful bacteria.
*Made from 70% recycled plastic, for use with Bokashi Composting Mix, sold separately.

A good, efficient system. I recommend it for anyone who is looking to reduce the waste from their home.
The New Internationalist magazine has won the Media Peace Prize, awarded for an outstanding contribution to world peace and development.
New Internationalist is an ongoing education and a monthly reminder of our common humanity. A wonderful readable guide to the social and political forces that shape our world...With its hard-hitting coverage of world affairs, evocative first-person essays, sweeping exposes of such topics as land mines and the geopolitics of blue jeans, the New Internationalist offers a consistently unique and important perspective on global culture.
The magazine is a secular publication. Readers, both Christian and non-Christian, may not always agree with all its conclusions. But it is an excellent catalyst for better informed thought and action. It pulls no punches yet at the same time is written with sensitivity and compassion ... could be of immense help in our becoming more globally aware and responsible citizens.
A little about Global Mamas: Global Mamas is a Fair Trade cooperative in Ghana, West Africa, supporting the sustainable development of women artisans producing fair trade products
New Internationalist Australia is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization, which means we have to stock a percentage of Fair Trade products, and also adhere to Fair Trade practices ourselves. Great for supporting producers rights, and also for our staff.
