100% cotton throwing discs, similar to the plastic ones you know, but better! The difference is that you can stuff your Pocket Disc in your back pocket and take it with you everywhere. And when it hits you (or someone else) in the face, it doesn't hurt!
Not that that'll be a problem for long - even relative novices can get these to fly well for up to 50 metres, and even on windy days.
Colourfast and robust, they're great for competitions or social games, on land, in the pool or the surf.
Made by a fair trade women's cooperative in Guatemala. The Mayas of Guatemala have been weaving and crocheting bright patterns for centuries and bring a deep cultural talent for handwork to the Pocket Discs. Each village specializes in a few patterns, passed down with the generations, so colours and designs vary.
Care and Maintenance
As a general rule Pocket Discs prefer hand-washing over washing machines. Though they can handle a machine, they can get a bit bent out of shape. But, don't worry. If your Pocket Disc gets at all wrinkled, bent out of shape or scruffy it has no noticeable impact on its flight.
The New Internationalist brings to life the people, the ideas and the action in the fight for global justice.
Look at that keep-away game we just played. If we had been using Frisbees®, there would have been 10 kids hurt before we were done.
When it hits me in the mouth, my lips don't get caught up in my braces!
This is exactly what the world needs right now!
The magazine is a secular publication. Readers, both Christian and non-Christian, may not always agree with all its conclusions. But it is an excellent catalyst for better informed thought and action. It pulls no punches yet at the same time is written with sensitivity and compassion ... could be of immense help in our becoming more globally aware and responsible citizens.
New Internationalist supports Fair Trade producers like The Chetna Organic Cotton Project. Fair Trade promotes a fair wage and fair working conditions, encouraging developing world producers to help themselves.
A little about The Chetna Organic Cotton Project: Say NO to pesticides that poison three million people every year, and help make trade fairer at the same time.
New Internationalist Australia is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization, which means we have to stock a percentage of Fair Trade products, and also adhere to Fair Trade practices ourselves. Great for supporting producers rights, and also for our staff.
