Exquisite tribal embroidery

A stirking traditional cross-stitch Mien design, embroidered on soft but heavy duty black cotton fabric by tribal Mien women in Nan province, Northern Thailand. The cotton fabric is bought by the bolt and dyed before embroidery. Taking great care, the women work on the reverse side of the fabric with the completed section wrapped in cloth to protect it.
