Locking up asylum seekers

This program looks at the recent turmoil for Australian asylum seekers. It includes first-hand interviews with a range of government representatives, refugee advocates and others closely affiliated with International Affairs.

We hear about life within detention centres and different views on the actions of the Australian Government. Amnesty International discusses the breach of human rights obligations under international law. The program also covers the recent stinging attack from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission on the government's policy of mandatory detention of children.
