People these days almost crave information that helps them to make sense of the world, and the New Internationalist magazine does that brilliantly.
I do enjoy your magazine - it provides a good balance to a lot of the right-wing / conservative and pro-big-business-dominated media.
What motivated the founders of the New Internationalist magazine was a high idealism; a real sense that we could change things; that if people knew the facts about what was going on, then they could actually have the wherewithal to campaign and try to make the world a better place.
New Internationalist is an ongoing education and a monthly reminder of our common humanity. A wonderful readable guide to the social and political forces that shape our world...With its hard-hitting coverage of world affairs, evocative first-person essays, sweeping exposes of such topics as land mines and the geopolitics of blue jeans, the New Internationalist offers a consistently unique and important perspective on global culture.
NOTE: With this EasyPay subscription you are authorising automatic ongoing quarterly subscription debits (see below), but you can tell us to stop at any time.
Dramatic changes in The Arctic...
ICESat - NASA's survey satellite has revealed a dramatic thinning of Arctic sea ice between the winters of 2004 and 2008. Thin seasonal ice has replaced thick older ice as the dominant type for the first time on record.
Issue 424 of the New Internationalist magazine explains why trends such as this are such a concern, not just for the Arctic dwellers who depend on a stable environment for their survival, but also for its impact globally. The speed of the sea-ice thaw has shocked climate scientists.
The shrinking of the Greenland ice-sheet is of particular concern. If it goes unchecked, the calamitous release of greenhouse gases from the permafrost would result in a 1 to 1.5 metre rise in sea level, according to latest predictions.
Amazingly, some people still fail to understand the seriousness of the climate emergency. This magazine will help you argue the case with them.
