I began buying the New Internationalist magazine because it started to educate me on issues that I was interested in; globalization, fair trade, inequities, injustice … it has huge authority and credibility and authenticity …

Anita Roddick - Founder of The Body Shop

New Internationalist weighs the world on the scales of justice. By tapping into a vast global network of activists, the compassionately written and tightly edited magazine breathes life into the struggles, projects, and people who are working to build a better planet.

Utne Reader's nomination of NI for Best International Coverage - annual Independent Press Awards, 2010 - an award that New Internationalist has won on eight previous occasions.

New Internationalist products are always of high quality. I love receiving them.

The magazine is a secular publication. Readers, both Christian and non-Christian, may not always agree with all its conclusions. But it is an excellent catalyst for better informed thought and action. It pulls no punches yet at the same time is written with sensitivity and compassion … could be of immense help in our becoming more globally aware and responsible citizens.

SOFT is for Sustainable, Organic & Fair Trade
Tread lightly; buy rightly.

By supporting this project you will help reduce the use of pesticides, particularly in the production of cotton and food. The World Health Organization estimates that globally at least three million people are poisoned by pesticides every year, and more than 200,000 die.

You'll also encourage the use of solar powered and wind-up torches and radios, instead of generating toxic waste with disposable batteries.

The promotion of fair trade in this project also boosts sustainability because fair trade products are made on a smaller scale, in harmony with the natural environment. Through fair trade, producer families also receive a stable income, enabling them to provide education for their children. History shows that education in poor countries leads to better family planning and empowering of women, which in turn reduces pressure on arable land, forests and the rural environment.

The New Internationalist is a non-profit social enterprise and is a registered Fair Trade Organization.
