I do enjoy your magazine - it provides a good balance to a lot of the right-wing / conservative and pro-big-business-dominated media.
People these days almost crave information that helps them to make sense of the world, and the New Internationalist magazine does that brilliantly.

Rights of workers
This is a tale of vast proportions: the largest migration in human history, the ruthless exploitation of the vulnerable, and the awakening of hundreds of thousands to their power and their rights. Analysis mixes with history and the voices of the workers to paint a picture of what is at stake both for China and the world.
Chinese migrant workers
An epic migration to the cities has been responsible for China's turbocharged economic performance. But, as this special edition of the New Internationalist magazine explains, the cost for many workers has been too great and they refuse to be quiet any longer. It is impossible to say just how many rural peasants have made this move in the past decade but estimates run from between 200 and 300 million people. This latter would be a population greater than that of the entire US. Even by official acknowledgement 20 million a year are leaving the land.
The cost of electronic gadgets
It's reported that last year a startling 18 Chinese migrant workers attempted suicide at Foxconn production facilities located in Guangdong, Jiangsu and Hebei Provinces. Fourteen died, while four survived with critical injuries. All were between 17 and 25 years old. Why did they, in the prime of youth, give up on their lives? Consumers around the globe face a dizzying array of choice in the latest electronics gadgets such as the iPhone 4, the iPod and iPad 2. These are all produced by the million-plus Foxconn workers in China alone. The company is projected to capture 50 per cent of the world market share in electronics manufacturing and service by mid-2011.
Solidarity with Chinese workers
As China's fledgling workers' movement finds its wings, an international support movement is also starting to gather pace. This movement spreads out from its observation post in Hong Kong to the regions of the world where the big international labels market their sweatshop wares. The magazine provides some crucial solidarity contacts.
