A fashionable, functional shoulder basket, handwoven by a Kamba women's cooperative in Kitui district, Kenya.
While "kiondos" (basket in Kiswahili) were traditionally made from fibre taken from the bark of the Baobab tree, these days they are made from tightly woven sisal, a sustainable plant that grows throughout Kenya. Our kiondos have Maasai beads, a fabric lining, a cow hide strap and top with zip closure, and are dyed using soil and tree bark. Extremely durable, they will take a beating and still look great.
Note: These kiondos are hand made and variation in shape and colour is part of their charm.
Approximately 25 cm dia x 25 cm deep.
