Just Do It lifts the lid on climate activism and the daring troublemakers who have crossed the line to become modern-day outlaws. Documented over a year, Emily James' film follows these activists as they blockade factories, attack coal power stations and glue themselves to the trading floors of international banks despite the very real threat of arrest.
Emily was allowed unprecedented access to film the secretive world of environmental direct action groups such as Climate Camp and Plane Stupid to document their clandestine activities. She went over fence, through mud, in daylight and twilight, to capture over 300 hours of footage that was crafted, moulded, pushed and pulled by Emily and editor James Leadbitter for over a year before release.
The film is a story of people standing up for what they believe in and making themselves heard. But it was a story that needed to be told without the creative constraints of traditional production models or the editorial control of big investors. And so it was that Just Do It - the totally independent project - was born. Staying true to its principles, the film was made possible thanks to the power of the crowd; the generosity of almost 500 crowd funders, an army of over 100 volunteers, and a slate of indie film giants who gave generously of their time and expertise.
The DVD includes special features such as deleted scenes that didnt make it in to the final cut, video from behind the scenes of the 'making-of' including a much-loved crowd-funding appeal and three secret short films from the world of Climate Camp.
