Have you seen the full range of No-Nonsense Guides?

The No-Nonsense Guide to Religion argues that to look at religion through a monochromatic lens of fundamentalism is to belie history, to overlook the diversity of religions and religious experiences, and to do an injustice to one of humanity's greatest institutions.

NOTE: This is a download for eBook readers (industry standard ePub format). It is NOT a printed book. It is suitable for reading on computers, mobile devices, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Kindle. If you don't have an eBook reader for your computer, the Adobe Digital Editions reader works well and is available for free download at www.adobe.com For iPhones, iPad and iPod Touch we recommend the Apple iBooks App. Religion is a term which is often used in the media and public life without any clarification. However, it is a word that encompasses hundreds of different beliefs. It is a loaded word that has a different meaning for each person. Religion can be seen as a source of war and peace, love and hate, dialogue and narrow-mindedness.

Diversity in the experience of religion

Drawing on a wide range of sources, the No-Nonsense Guide to Religion doesn't just concentrate on the popular and well-established traditions, which normally over-emphasize powerful figures. It focuses too on the diversity within religions as well as the similarities between them.

How religion has shaped our culture

The globalization of communications has made more people aware of religious conversion, with more people than ever before belonging to a different religious community from their parents. The No-Nonsense Guide to Religion considers how religion has shaped our culture as well as how our culture is shaping religion today.

Diagrams, charts and graphs used throughout to illustrate key information.
