Organic Fairtrade Coffee
250g packs of whole beans OR ground coffee
From the birthplace
of coffee comes this delicious Sidamo Ethiopia
Gold coffee. It's roasted to perfection and ground
ready for your plunger.
Even better, this
coffee is Fairtrade which guarantees a better
deal for Third World producers. It's also certified
organic; so it's much better for the farming families,
the environment and for your health.
The coffee was produced
by members of Oromia Farmers Union in southern
Ethiopia. Fair trade is a trading partnership
which ensures that producers receive a fair price
for their product and secures the rights of marginalized
producers and workers - especially in the South.
The Fairtrade
label on this packet is your guarantee that
this coffee meets internationally agreed Fairtrade
standards.
The Negele Gorbitu
Cooperative with 396 members is just one of 74
cooperatives forming the Oromia Farmers Union
in southern Ethiopia. The Farmers Union buys coffee
from the growers in the Cooperative, and sells
it directly to overseas buyers. 70% of net profit
goes back directly to the farmers, and the extra
Fairtrade Premium you pay goes back to the Cooperative
for community benefit. In the last two years Negele
Gorbitu has built a new clinic and a school for
300 children from these funds.
